After much anticipation and preparation, NTHU officially launched the Tsing Hua College in the beginning of the 2008 academic year. The College represents a new concept that differs from conventional undergraduate education commonly found in our country. It will integrate dormitory living, professional education and social service into a coherent and wholesome educational program with the goal of nurturing a greater number of future academic and social elites.

By choosing to enroll in this new College, students will be choosing a new kind of undergraduate lifestyle as well as a "learning by doing" educational experience. A new general education curriculum emphasizing at training students to understand themselves, human relations, environment, both social and natural, team work and organizational skill will be offered during the first two years of their matriculation. In addition to classroom instructions, programs of study tours will also be offered to enhance what are being covered in courses. Emphasis will be placed on the cultivation of personhood modeling offer the classic Chinese concept of Jiun-Tzu (君子). A Jiun-Tzu is a person who never stop learning and continuously seeks ways to cultivate him/herself. He is also a person willing and capable to contribute to the betterment of others and society in general.

Extra-curriculum Programs will include regular lecture/seminar series offered by famous authors and scholars focusing on contemporary social, economic, political issues as well as topics related to fine arts. These lectures/seminars will be presented as open forums so that students will not only have the opportunity to hear from the established intellects and artists, but also have chances to voice their views on various subject matters, thereby, training themselves as public speakers in different kinds of social contexts.

The basic goals of this residential college is to turn our students into:
1. A learning person: who is not only a good student in the classroom and laboratory but also knows his/her own capability and, thereby can continuously take measures to learn and improve him/herself.
2. A confident person: who is not only well-versed in his/her chosen fields of studies but also has acquired the skill to communicate and share his/her knowledge with follow human beings.
3. A caring person: who is not only aware of the social contexts but also willing and capable to do his/her parts for the betterment of others.
