Mei-Chu Game, the famous annual intercollegiate game between NTHU and NCTU was instituted in l969. It has become, since its inauguration, one of the most important events on both campuses and in the entire Hsin Chu community. Students and faculty alike placed a great deal of premium on winning the competition and the right to boast their athletic finesse. As it usually occurs in early March, it is also played like a rite of spring that revives both campuses from the winter doldrums.

Although the formal game took placed between March 6th and 8th, both NTHU and NCTU campuses were boiling with excitement days before the real game started. Many pre-game rallies were staged on both campuses to fan up the enthusiasm and to "beatup" the other side symbolically. By the time when the games started, the two friendly rivals were ready and mobilized to do their best, not only in the ball courts or on other game grounds but also on the sidelines where cheering squads and on-lookers alike were putting up their best efforts to assure their teams' victory.

The games ended with an exciting closing ceremony in the evening of the 8th when rivals sat together to congratulate each other for games well-played. President Wen-Tsuen Chen was very delighted when the total scores were in and showing that NTHU has regained the championship this year. He did, however, emphasize at the closing ceremony that both universities were actually the real winners because it was their cooperative spirit and effort that made the events possible and successful. The following table shows the score of this past Mei-Chu Game and as many of our athletes believe also as a reminder on where and what NTHU can do better next year!
