National Science Council recently announced the recipients of the prestigious "Outstanding Research Award" and five of our productive and accomplished professors are among the list of forty from seventeen universities and research institutes. While NTHU does not have the highest number of winners, if we factor in the size of faculty, we do have the highest ratio of faculty member winning this national award among all the institutions honored by the National Science Council! We congratulate Professors Chung- Yu Mou, Kingman Cheung from the Department of Physics and Prof. Li-Li Huang from General Education Center, Prof. Ruey-An Doong from the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Sciences as well as Professor Dylan W. Prof. Cheung's prize-winning works are in the areas of neutrino oscillation and the LHC experiments which link up theories with experiment. Professor Li-Li Huang is a strong advocate of the indigenization of psychological theories. Her works on harmony and conflict as well as gender issues are internationally recognized for its originality and insights. Prof. Doong is renowned for his works in the areas of remediation of pollutants in subsurface environments and the fabrication of environmentally benign nano-materials.
