NTHU Launches Special Programs to Help Stimulating the Economy
back
"Power Station for the Soul: A Progressive Learning Program" press conference

While common wisdom would suggest that an increase of investment is needed to pull us out of the current economic crisis, we here at NTHU have another idea. As an institution of higher education, we believe that the quality of human resources is as vital as financial capital for a healthy economy. Therefore, as responsible citizens, the faculty members at NTHU have designed an educational program to reinvigorate the work forces by providing them with the opportunity to take courses, attend lectures and update their professional knowledge and skills. This special education program, "NTHU Power Station for the Mind," is open to alumni and the general public free of any charge. It is just one of our many efforts to meet the current economic downturn by doing what we are best at-cultivating mind and inspiring creativity.

The NTHU Power Station for the Mind program has four major components: the Tze-Chiang Lecture Series, the NTHU Forum, Energizer for the Mind, and the Dream Factory. The lecture series and forum will feature famous speakers in the areas of history, finance and management, technology and law, innovation and creativity, as well as public arts to provide participants with the insights and analytic skills needed when faced with current social issues. The "Energizer" project will coordinate the enrollment to the four hundred plus courses for those who desire to improve their knowledge in a variety of subjects. The Dream Factory, on the other hand, is an expansion of NTHU's well-known training programs that aim at preparing its participants to cross boundaries and discover potential new career and adventure.
