Howard Chen founded Gemtek Technology Co.,Ltd in 1992 as an entrepreneur along with 5 other gentlemen with expertise in the RF field.
Howard started out his career at TSMC for a year following with several years of sales & marketing responsibility at Syntek Semiconductor Co. Ltd. His role function included engineering and management during his tenure at TSMC and Syntek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Respectively.
In 1992, Howard founded Gemtek Technology to develop and market products that utilizes the RF expertise of the founding team. Later on in 1997, the management he led made a decision to strategically focus in the development of the first generation (802.11, 2Mbps) of WLAN products.
Under Howard's leadership, Gemtek grew from a company of Sales Revenue of US$72Million in 2002 to US$660Million in 2008. Along with the nearly 10 fold growth in sales in 7 years is the leadership to a total of more than 4000 employees both in Taiwan and China.Currently, Howard also sits on the Board of Directors for Gemtek Investment Co., Ltd, Gemtek Electronic (Kunshan) CO., Ltd. and several other organizations Worldwide. In addition, Howard is also serving as the President for the NTHU Innovative Incubator Center,which provides assistance and resources to potential start-ups.
Howard graduated from National Tsinghua University with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and his entrepreneurial initiative has earned him recognition by NTHU's Outstanding Alumnus Award.
Under his leadership, Gemtek has grown itself into an internationally renowned wireless communications system provider from WiFi to Wimax and working at the edge in the actualization of the improving wireless technology specification.
